March 7, 1729-30.
Sir, Your inserting in your paper, this small piece of
poetry, will much oblige. your very humble servant, L.E.
Say muse what numbers shall relate,
What verse be found to praise our Nanny;
On her ten thousand graces wait,
Each swain admires, and owns she's bonny
Since first she trod the happy plains
She has set each youthful heart on fire:
Each Nymph doth on her swain complain,
That Nanny kindles new desire.
